ZED: Zero Defect, Zero Effect

The government is going to launch a ‘Zero Effect, Zero Defect’ model to deliver top quality products using the clean technology. The name of this model was derived from our Prime Minister Narender Modi’s speech of ‘Make in India’ Campaign. It is for the high quality local manufacturing. Aim of this model is to help SMEs (Small and mid size Enterprises.) in growing up their business and improve their reputation globally. It will also help to produce good quality products. More importance will be given to packaging and branding of the products and will be given training on delivering quality products with Zero defect and Zero effect. The main objective of this is to recognize Indian products as top quality products all over the world which help to draw buyers from the west.

Today's youth is highly educated, energetic, adventurous and ready to take on the world in every respect. Business and entrepreneurship has always been in the blood of Indians. That is why India was once called ‘Golden Bird’. Rapid progress was made in business, trading and manufacturing at that period of time. Textiles and spices of India were known and valued all around the globe. The Prime Minister’s ‘Make in India ‘has encouraged manufacturers to invest more and more in India. India is most suitable for setting up manufacturing industries as it has natural resources and trained manpower. Low cost of capital and labor is also one of the advantages.

Employment generation will be benefitted because of the investments coming across the world. It will increase the employment opportunities for the people. There will be lots of improvement in the Indian economy also. Any industry if does not follows its standards and finds the shortcut to achieve its goal, then that industry will not get success and also cannot survive for long. Manufacturing industries can gain the confidence of its consumers by following the concept of zero defect which results in less rejection of the products by its consumers. Customers should not feel like as if they have wasted their money by buying the product.

The manufacturing activities of an organization should be such that it should not affect the environment adversely. There will be sector-specific parameters for each industry, such as food processing, textiles, leather, auto parts, etc., for assessment. It is our primary responsibility to preserve our environment. Every enterprise should follow the principle of Zero defect, zero effect which will help an organization to become a good competitor for the countries like China and South East Asian economies in the manufacturing field. This will in turn help our country's industries to get global recognition and will one day remove the unemployment from the face of India. India has close to 35 million MSMEs with 95% employing less than 10 people. The rest 5% employs 10 to 100 people. Under the proposed programme, unemployed youth will be trained to become quality professionals.
